Since its inception, the IAF has had its share of trials and tribulations. The IAF’s mettle was tested in the Second World War, after independence, in the conflicts of 1948, 1965, 1971 and the Kargil Victory in the summer of 1999. IAF has vindicated itself time and again by rising to the myriad challenges, tasks and demands placed on it by the nation. The fortitude and deeds of its men have won many laurels. Its growth and continuous modernization is an index of its ability to adapt with the times and its deeds a testimony to the caliber of its men.

AAIRMEN ENTRY

Opportunities are open to young men to choose Indian Air force as a career. Here the aspiration finds satisfaction. To become a warrior in airman category check out your eligibility and look out for the opportunity as an when they come.

Method of Entry

Technical Trades (16 to 22 years)

The candidate should have passed Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English and a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.


OR

Three years Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile/Computer Science/Instrumentation Technology) from a Govt. recognized Polytechnic/Institute.

GROUP -‘Y’

All Group ‘Y’ trades (16 to 20 years)

Passed Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent with a minimum aggregate score of 50% with pass marks in English.

Education Instructor Trade

(20 to 25 years)

(i) Graduation with a teaching Degree or Diploma from a recognized University with a minimum 50% aggregate marks in each qualification.

OR

(ii)  B.A. (Hons)/B.Sc(Hons)/BCA with a minimum score of 50% marks.

OR

(20 to 28 years)

(iii) A minimum second class M.A. in English/M.Sc in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or MCA.

Interviews:  Candidates passing both Written Test & PFT are to be interviewed by a team of officers & Warrant Ranks. Those who are recommended in an interview will be medically examined by Recruitment Medical Team as per Indian Air Force Medical Standards. Those who are recommended in an interview and Medically Fit will only be considered for final selection.

From Airmen to Commissioned Officer: Promotion Prospectus exist up to the rank of Master Warrant officer (MWO). Opportunities to become a Commissioned Officer also exist for those airmen who qualify the prescribed examinations later during their service career.
